Luxair About Luxair

Luxair is the state airline of Luxembourg and was founded in 1962. The company is based in Sandweiler in the south of the Grand Duchy. The first route was between Paris and Luxembourg. The airline’s hub is Luxembourg-Findel Airport, the only airport in the country. In 1970, the company acquired its first jet aircraft: a Caravelle. Over the years, and with the growth and modernization of Luxair’s fleet, the number of destinations served has increased. Its fleet, made up of 19 Boeing and De Haviland aircraft today serves 65 regular and seasonal destinations, spread across Europe: Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

The key to success are security, service and comfort. With its offer, Luxair primarily wants to address two target groups. On the one hand, vacationers benefit from high-quality flights at affordable prices. On the other hand, there are particularly flexible offers for business travelers.

The Primo tariffs are exceptionally cheap and are aimed at early bookers. The Flex option is recommended for passengers who frequently travel on the same routes. Flex is a type of subscription that allows you to buy multiple return flights at once and save a lot. The frequent flyer program Miles & More, which was taken over by Lufthansa, also offers advantages. Miles can be earned not only on Luxair flights, but also when shopping or staying at a hotel with the numerous partners.

In the economy, Luxair passengers are generally served a snack and a drink. In the morning this is coffee or tea and a croissant or chocolate roll, during the day hearty sandwiches or pastries are served and alcoholic beverages are also offered. If possible, use regional products, the company advertises, referring to sparkling wine from Luxembourg. Special meals can be ordered up to 48 hours before departure; in the economy, the selection is limited to diabetic food and gluten-free or lactose-free dishes.

Business passengers have significantly more options for special meals, including vegan and vegetarian dishes as well as kosher and Muslim on-board catering. For flights in the morning, Luxair customers can expect a European breakfast with bread rolls, cold cuts and jam. In addition to non-alkaline drinks such as coffee, tea, water and juices, beer and wine are also available. Later in the day, a lunch box is served that contains a sandwich, salad, pastries, and other small items. However, we continue to eat plastic and cardboard dishes. There is no first class or premium economy.

Since the majority of Luxair flights are short, no priority is given to on-board catering. In the economy in particular, this can lead to complications with special dietary habits. In business, you are at least on the safe side if you choose from the special meals in advance.

Luxair Inflight Entertainment

Luxair flights impress with a good standard service. Free food and drinks are included in the ticket price. If you wish, you can order a special menu in advance. In addition, there is the right entertainment so that the time on the plane passes quickly for your children.

Since Luxair only operates within Europe, the flight times are quite short. Therefore, the Internet is currently not available to passengers. However, the physical well-being of the guests is ensured on all flights: a pain au chocolat or croissant is served for breakfast, while sandwiches are served on afternoon flights. So time flies by.
