When you go to Antalya, you can choose to immerse yourself in the city's entertainment and cultural life or just enjoy the wonderful climate on the city's various beaches. The freedom of choice to one day lie only on the sun-drenched beaches and another day to shop in all the major shopping centers is one of Antalya's main advantages.
The city has a lot to offer, especially if you are interested in cultural history. Head to the ancient Yivli Minare minority built in the 13th century and enjoy its architecture. The 38 meter high minority is a symbol of the city and the building also houses Antalya's Ethnographic Museum. The old town, Kaleici is also worth a visit. Its cozy surroundings house small shops, market stalls and genuine restaurants.
There are a number of different beaches to choose from when you want to enjoy the sun and be able to take a refreshing dip. Cobblestone beach Konyaalti is a well-visited beach and is most easily reached on foot or by bus. Mermerli is a slightly smaller beach that you will find near the harbor. If you think water sports are fun, try Beach Park, which is perfectly suited for this activity.
Near Antalya are famous resorts such as Alanya, Side and Kemer. So should you get tired of Antalya one day, the other resorts are not many miles away. Take the nearest bus and you will be there in a few hours. If you want to take a longer excursion, a visit to the ancient ruined city of Ephesus, where one of the world's largest excavations is taking place, is recommended. In addition, there is an amphitheater, the Celsius Library and the Artemist Temple, one of the seven wonders of antiquity.
The shopping in Antalya is high class and you can choose between large shopping centers, market stalls and traditional bazaars. The bazaars sell handicrafts, hookahs and cheap copies of designer clothes. The opportunity for bargaining is always there and is often a must if you want to bring the price down to a decent level.
