Wizz Air was founded in September 2003 and its first flight took off on 19th May 2004 from Katowice. Today, Wizz Air has 16 operating bases in the area and is constantly expanding its network of destinations in order to provide low-cost air transport to and from Central and Eastern Europe.
With currently 28 locations in a total of 15 countries, Wizz Air provides the most important route network for passengers in Eastern Europe. The airline’s home airport is Budapest Liszt Ferenc, which is also one of the major hubs of the low-cost airline. In addition, Bucharest, Sophia and the Polish city of Gdansk are among the major bases of Wizz Air. Most of the flights on Wizz Air are made with the latest model Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
Being a low-cost airline, Wizz Air focuses on providing affordable flights and cost-efficient travel solutions to its passengers. Their low fees are the basis for the low-cost airline to be able to offer the corresponding prices. The restriction to economy class is part of the simple but good service model at Wizz Air. Passengers travel in comfortable leather seats, meals can be ordered for a fee. Ticketless travel and the use of time-saving secondary airports round off the no-frills service.
Wizz Air customers have the option of using various services. With the Discount Club, the airline offers its passengers a membership for a fee, which in return leads to certain discounts. Business travelers and frequent flyers also like to use the Wizz Priority, which allows free seat selection, priority boarding, as well as free transportation of a large piece of hand luggage for a fixed annual fee. Other services, such as the Wizz Flex rebooking service, can be selected individually during the booking process.
