About Philippine Airlines
Philippine Airlines has been the largest airline in the Philippines since its inception in 1941. The country’s first airline dates back to 1930 and was called PATCO (Philippines Aerial Taxi Company). At that time the Philippines was under American rule. In 1941, PATCO became Philippines Airlines, and was then in charge of preparing for the possible Japanese invasion. Aided considerably by the American state, the company developed very quickly, bought out its main competitors such as Commercial Air Lines, which allowed it to become the main airline in the country. It thus doubled the number of its passengers between 1946 and 1950, with a total acquisition of 35 aircraft.
Since the 1970s the company officially belongs to the government. Privatized in 1992, it received its first Boeing 747-400 a year later. In 1999, it provided international flights to Los Angeles and San Francisco. It continued to expand its air network in the 2000s and began to serve cities such as Las Vegas or Nagoya. In 2008 the subsidiary PAL Express started operations. Here the customer has the option of booking cheap flights for regional offers. The airline offers both scheduled and charter flights. In 2013, it began serving nearly 6 new destinations. The company has also increased its fleet with the arrival of ten planes since 2016. Today, Philippine Airlines with its subsidiaries serves 98 destinations in Asia, Oceania, the Middle East and North America and has a fleet of 97 aircraft.
The airline’s frequent flyer program is called Mabuhay Miles. Here you collect airline miles in order to use them later for new cheap flights or upgrades. Within the program there are different member classes that entitle you to use ascending services. Philippine Airlines maintains several airport lounges within four airports in the Philippines.

Philippine Airlines recommends that its passengers check in two hours before departure for domestic flights and three hours for international flights. At the airports in Dubai, Canton, London and New York the counters close at least one hour, at all other airports 45 minutes before take-off.
Philippine Airlines Baggage Allowance
Each passenger is allowed to take one piece of hand luggage on board with a total size of 115 cm (L x W x H) and a maximum weight of 7 kg.
Philippine Airlines has different programs for baggage take-off. For example, if you fly within the Philippines, you can carry a maximum of ten kilograms of baggage allowance in the cheapest budget economy class. On the other hand, those who fly from the Philippines to Bali in the same class benefit from a baggage allowance of 20 kilograms, while on connections to Bangkok even 30 kilograms are allowed. On flights to China, in turn, only 20 kilograms of baggage allowance are standardized – at least in economy class, with the airline differentiating between three economy models. Those who travel in business class, on the other hand, can check in up to 30 or even 35 kilograms. Before packing or choosing an airline, travelers should therefore check how much baggage can be carried, depending on the destination. Even travelers in the cheapest economy class can check in for connections to or from Australia, London or Abu Dhabi weighing up to 30 kilograms free of charge. Two pieces of luggage weighing 23 kilograms are allowed on connections to Japan.
If it does not exceed 15 kilograms, you can carry your diving equipment, golf clubs, fishing equipment and similar items at no additional charge. If you exceed this limit, you have to pay a fee.

Philippine Airlines Food & Beverage
In Economy, as in all Philippine Airlines booking classes, on-board catering is part of the service, which is already included in the ticket price. The airline does not provide much detail on its website. Accordingly, economy passengers should be pampered with a mixture of traditional and modern dishes at meals. However, sample photos on the internet platform show classics such as sliced meat with rice and vegetables rather than a fruit salad as dessert. It should be possible to pre-order special meals by telephone up to 48 hours before departure, Philippine Airlines does not provide any further information about this service.
In the business world, Philippine Airlines advertises a generous selection between Western, Filipino and Japanese cuisine, but dispenses with sample menus and further information. Porcelain dishes can be seen in traveler photos. Travelers report on starters such as couscous, main courses with fish or chicken and branded chocolate or ice cream for dessert. So there is also champagne as a welcome.
Philippine Airlines guarantees the standards of a classic airline for on-board catering, but gives almost no details online. If in doubt, it is therefore advisable to contact Philippine Airlines before booking.
