About Lufthansa

The Lufthansa’s 55.5 million passengers a year, the largest German airline and it measured even the fifth largest worldwide. The Lufthansa Aviation Group comprises 400 subsidiaries, including Lufthansa Technik, Catering, Cargo and Tourism. In January 1926, the company was founded under the name Deutsche Luft Hansa Aktiengesellschaft in Berlin. The name Lufthansa is derived from the word Luft (the German word for “air”) and Hansa (after the Hanseatic League). The first flight routes were, among others, Berlin-Moscow, and Berlin-Cologne-Paris. After the departure of the airline in 1945, the airline was re-established in 1953 and regular flight operations were resumed in April 1955.  Airline is the national flag carrier of Germany. Lufthansa Baggage Allowance

Carry-on baggage

Economy Class passenger can carry a hand luggage up to eight kilos. In the higher booking classes, there are two pieces of luggage. The dimensions in all classes can be a maximum of 55 cm x 40 cm x 23 cm (for foldable clothes bags the maximum dimensions are 57 x 54 x 15 cm). In addition, a laptop or other private item, such as a briefcase.

Checked baggage

When reserving luggage, it is important to note that Lufthansa will be able to carry a luggage up to 23 kg free in Economy Class. In the Business Class, there are two pieces of luggage and in the first class three pieces of luggage, which can weigh up to 32 kg in each class. Baggage pieces may be up to 158 cm in circumference. If a piece of luggage is bigger (from 159 cm onwards) and / or heavier (class-independent up to 32 kg) than the mentioned data, fees are levied. In addition, Extra baggage can be taken if you are a Star Alliance Gold Member, a SWISS Golf Traveler Member or a HON Circle Member, or a Frequent Traveler or a Senator. Other luggage

As long as it is a matter of baggage that does not exceed the permissible limits and can be stored in the freight area accordingly, it can be carried free of charge. If the free baggage limit is exceeded, however, an extra charge must be paid, with the fee payable according to whether the weight and / or dimensions and / or number of baggage has been exceeded and whether there is a continental or intercontinental flight. The minimum fee is currently 50 euros, the maximum fee is 450 euros. For sport baggage, it is free of charge if the baggage has been registered 24 hours before departure via the reservation hotline.
