Japan AirlinesAbout Japan Airlines

Japan Airlines (JAL) was founded in 1951 and became the first international airline in Japan. Airline is the second largest airline in the land of the rising sun after All Nippon Airways. In terms of punctuality, the company has already been the No. 1 and has more flights on schedule than any other major airline. In addition to 59 destinations within Japan, the current flight schedule also includes 33 international destinations in Asia, Europe, North and South America and Oceania. These are served by a fleet of 175 passenger aircraft. In 1970, Japan Airlines was the first Asian airline to launch a Boeing 747 wide-body aircraft. The airline’s fleet consists exclusively of Boeing aircraft, Airbus aircraft were only taken over through mergers.

The history of the airline began long before it was actually founded, because the forerunners were created in the 1920s. Allies had banned flight operations with the Japanese surrender in the Pacific War. It wasn’t until 1951 that the first routes could be operated under the umbrella of Japan Air Lines Co. Ltd. to be resumed. Local connections were initially operated from Tokyo, and in 1954 the first international route from Tokyo to San Francisco was added. In 2001, Japan Air System and Japan Airlines merged, introducing the current name. Japan Airlines has also been a member of the Oneworld flight alliance since 2007.

JAL Mileage Bank (JMB), the airline’s loyalty program, has reached over 27 million members worldwide. Awarded the most punctual major international airlines in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013, JAL is committed to providing customers the highest levels of flight safety and supreme quality in every aspect of its services and aims to become the world’s most preferred most airline.

It is also possible to select a desired place on the day of travel at the airport counter or at the self-service machines.
