Iberia Check-in

Online Check-in

If you want to check in online at the Spanish airline Iberia, go to this airline website . There is a form there for you to fill out for Iberia online check-in . The surname, the booking number and the place of departure are entered. Then you can go straight to check-in using the Check-In button. If you have a customer account with the airline, you can log in using your Iberia Plus number, your PIN number and your place of departure. This works from the home computer, with a tablet or smartphone, because there are corresponding apps for all common devices such as iPhone, Android or Blackberry.
Seat selection is also possible online. If it is not possible to reserve a seat according to the booked category, you can book it online for a cheaper price than at the airport.

The boarding pass is printed out as a PDF file or sent by email. For iPhone or iPod with iOS 10 operating system, there is the option of downloading the mobile boarding pass into the Passbook wallet. You can order your boarding pass up to an hour before the scheduled departure time, 90 minutes beforehand in Lagos and San Jose and 180 minutes in Caracas.

Travel with luggage at the Iberia online check-in

If you are traveling with baggage, you must check it in at the baggage counters or check-in counters at least 45 minutes before departure, in Madrid it is 55 minutes for all flights from Terminal T4S. With the MyBagTag tag you can print out your own luggage tag. Simply specify the number of items of luggage to be checked in at online check-in and print out the luggage tag together with the boarding pass. Now the trailer only has to be attached to the suitcase handle and the baggage can be dropped off at the baggage drop-off points, the so-called Fast Bag Drops. There is also a plastic cover in which the printed tag fits. After the baggage has been checked in, it goes to the security check, where the identification documents must be shown.

When online check-in doesn’t work

Online check-in is not possible if the trip, whether at the beginning or at the end, includes an Iberia flight connected to a flight from Vueling. So-called code-sharing flights cannot be checked in online, with the exception of flights operated by British Airways, American Airlines or Vueling. If minors fly alone or people with a disability, such as wheelchairs, the check is only possible at the counter. This also applies if you have to pay additional services directly at the airport, for example special baggage.

Check-in start time

Starting from 24 hours before the flight and continues until 60 minutes prior the scheduled flight.

Click the button below to check in online.

ONLINE CHECK-IN

Airport Check-in

Check-in is generally possible up to an hour before departure, except for connections to Lagos, San Jose and Caracas. Alternatively, depending on the airport, vending machines are available for self-check-in or counters on site.

Iberia Baggage Allowance

Carry-on baggage

Passengers of Economy Class are allowed to carry a piece of luggage up to 10 kg. In Business Class, it is also a piece of luggage, while Business Class Plus has two pieces of luggage. The dimensions may be a maximum of 56 x 45 x 25 cm, a weight limit does not exist. In addition, a personal item is allowed in all classes, such as a women’s handbag, a laptop or a baby bag.

Checked baggage

The baggage to be checked at the Iberia check-in counter may not exceed the total height, length and width of 158 cm. In the economy class, one baggage can be given free of charge in the Business Class and three baggage can be given free of charge. When using special economy rates, two pieces of luggage may be given free of charge. On domestic and European flights the free baggage in Economy Class is omitted and Business Class is only two pieces of luggage. Only in the business class is not charged for overnight luggage up to 32 kg. The maximum weight is otherwise 23 kg. In case of an overnight stay of up to 32 kg, the price per flight will be calculated from 60 Euro in Economy Class. If you have a residence in certain Spanish regions, you only have to pay a surcharge of 15 euros for each piece of luggage.

Other luggage

Anyone who wants to carry sports equipment or musical instruments and other equipment via Iberia should note that this before flight must be registered. If it does not exceed the stated luggage limit, it can be handed over as normal luggage at the check-in. Musical instruments up to a size of 30 x 120 x 38 cm (dimensions of a standard guitar) may be carried as hand luggage.

Iberia Seat Selection

The desired seats can be reserved during the booking process. Seating is included in the Business, Business Plus and Business Club classes. Depending on the tariff and destination, fees may apply for seat reservations in Economy Class. A reservation is possible during the booking and afterwards, for example from 6 euros surcharge for intra-European flights and from 15 euros on long-haul flights. In general, the prices for this service are cheaper online than at the airport. Passengers log in with their flight details on the Iberia website and make the seat reservation under the “Process booking” tab.

Iberia Knee Distance

Because of the airlines who want to reduce the cost of flying more passengers, knee distance is very important especially on long haul flights. The front seats and emergency exit seats are the seats with the highest knee distance. It is generally sold for a fee.

Iberia Plus/Avios Frequent Flyer Program

With the Customer Program Iberia Plus passengers can earn points on their flights with Iberia and with partners in the Oneworld Alliance. Since the end of 1999, Iberia has been a member of the airline Alliance Oneworld, which also includes 15 other major airlines, including Air Berlin, American Airlines, British Airways and Latam Airlines. With all these airlines, premium points, so-called avios, can be collected with the Iberia Plus card. In addition, the participants are credited with status points, so-called elite points, on each flight (also applies to flights with Iberia subsidiaries not belonging to Allianz Oneworld, such as the low-cost airline Vueling).

Elite points and avios with Iberia Plus

The free membership card offers passengers some exclusive benefits. Depending on the number of elite points, the passenger receives a silver, gold or platinum membership card. These status cards each grant special travel preferences (eg more extra baggage). Even with a simple membership, which corresponds to the Classic card, Avios points can be collected – except for the flights even with partner companies, for example, hotels, car rental companies and shopping. The passenger can redeem the aviation points against flights, car rental or hotel stays. The collected points can also be used for an upgrade.
