IBERIA PLUS / AVIOS FREQUENT FLYER PROGRAM
With the Customer Program Iberia Plus passengers can earn points on their flights with Iberia and with partners in the Oneworld Alliance. Since the end of 1999, Iberia has been a member of the airline Alliance Oneworld, which also includes 15 other major airlines, including Air Berlin, American Airlines, British Airways and Latam Airlines. With all these airlines, premium points, so-called avios, can be collected with the Iberia Plus card. In addition, the participants are credited with status points, so-called elite points, on each flight (also applies to flights with Iberia subsidiaries not belonging to Allianz Oneworld, such as the low-cost airline Vueling).
Elite points and avios with Iberia Plus
The free membership card offers passengers some exclusive benefits. Depending on the number of elite points, the passenger receives a silver, gold or platinum membership card. These status cards each grant special travel preferences (eg more extra baggage). Even with a simple membership, which corresponds to the Classic card, Avios points can be collected - except for the flights even with partner companies, for example, hotels, car rental companies and shopping. The passenger can redeem the aviation points against flights, car rental or hotel stays. The collected points can also be used for an upgrade. The passenger can also make a partial payment with the points of IberiaPlus in a flight reservation for flights with Iberia, Vueling, Iberia Express, Air Nostrum and British Airways.
Passengers of Economy Class are allowed to carry a piece of luggage up to 10 kg. In Business Class, it is also a piece of luggage, while Business Class Plus has two pieces of luggage. The dimensions may be a maximum of 56 x 45 x 25 cm, a weight limit does not exist. In addition, a personal item is allowed in all classes, such as a women's handbag, a laptop or a baby bag.
The baggage to be checked at the Iberia check-in counter may not exceed the total height, length and width of 158 cm. In the economy class, one baggage can be given free of charge in the Business Class and three baggage can be given free of charge. When using special economy rates, two pieces of luggage may be given free of charge. On domestic and European flights the free baggage in Economy Class is omitted and Business Class is only two pieces of luggage. Only in the business class is not charged for overnight luggage up to 32 kg. The maximum weight is otherwise 23 kg. In case of an overnight stay of up to 32 kg, the price per flight will be calculated from 60 Euro in Economy Class. If you have a residence in certain Spanish regions, you only have to pay a surcharge of 15 euros for each piece of luggage.
Anyone who wants to carry sports equipment or musical instruments and other equipment via Iberia should note that this before flight must be registered. If it does not exceed the stated luggage limit, it can be handed over as normal luggage at the check-in. Musical instruments up to a size of 30 x 120 x 38 cm (dimensions of a standard guitar) may be carried as hand luggage.
