Garuda Indonesia About Garuda Indonesia

Indonesian airline Garuda Indonesia is based in Jakarta. It is a state-owned airline with its home airport Soerkarna Hatta. In 1947, the company KLM Interinsulair, intended to provide air service to the Dutch East Indies, was created as a subsidiary of KLM. In December 1949, the company came under the authority of the Indonesian government.

It begins its activities with Douglas DC3s. Garuda’s image was updated in 1985 with the adoption of new colors and a new logo. The 90s disrupt the economic balance of the company, in particular due to the Asian economic crisis of 1997. As a result, flights to Europe, with the exception of Amsterdam, are canceled.Garuda’s economic situation returned to stability in the early 2000s, allowing it to set up CitiLink in 2001 as its low-cost subsidiary. It entered the Jakarta Stock Exchange in 2011.

Garuda is the vehicle for Lord Vishnu’s mount in ancient Indian mythology. The airline offers its guests a comprehensive service not only before departure but also during the flight. It is not for nothing that it has already received an award and has been proposed for several prizes. Drinks and meals depend on the duration of the trip and the destination. Separate dishes, both Asian and European, are prepared for international flights. Garuda Indonesia offers passengers a lot of luxury, especially on longer flights. In March 2014, Garuda Indonesia joined SkyTeam, the global airline alliance with 20 members, providing access to an extensive global network with over 15,700 daily flights to 1,064 destinations in 178 countries.

Garuda Indonesia was awarded as the “5-star” airline in the world from Skytrax and became a member of 8 of the world’s airlines that received the award.

According to Garuda Indonesia, the cuisine for business and first class is developed by chefs who have learned in five-star resorts. In First Class, guests are spoiled with champagne and caviar even before the main meal. Later you can choose between grilled shrimps, beef fillet with asparagus or lamb chops. For dessert, there could be a cheese platter or pistachio ice cream. Soups, pasta and salads are brought in for the small hunger in between.
