It was established in 2008 as a low-cost airline by Emirates Airlines chairman Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. The airline company Fly Dubai specializes in low cost flights and is a state carrier of the Emirate Dubai. The hub of the airline is located at Dubai International Airport.  In the build-up phase, the company was supported by the airline Emirates, but it always works independently of it and does not belong to the Emirates group.

There are a number of competitors for Fly Dubai. These include the low-cost airlines Air Arabia, Sharjah and Jazeera Airways.

Dubai is a small country and there are no domestic flights. The main countries Flydubai flying international destinations: Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Georgia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Oman, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tanzania, Turkey and Ukraine.

Carry-on baggage

In economy class, passengers are allowed to carry seven kilograms of luggage in one bag. A laptop or handbag may be carried along. In business class, two hand luggage pieces with a maximum of 15 kilograms of luggage can be used. A handbag must never be larger than 56 x 45 x 25 centimeters.

Checked baggage

In economy class, luggage has to be booked additionally, in the business class each passenger can give a total of 40 kilograms of luggage in up to 3 bags distributed. A piece of luggage must never be larger than 75 x 55 x 35 centimeters and not more than 32 kilograms.
