About Czech Airlines
Czech Airlines, the largest airline company in the Czech Republic, has a very young and modern fleet. The airline is flying from the capital Prague to major European capitals and major destinations in North America. It was founded in 1923 and is the fifth oldest airline company in the world. The first flight was from Prague to Bratislava. Václav Havel Airport uses Prague as a hub.
In 1930, the first international flight was made from Prague to Zagreb, then to Bucharest in 1933 and Moscow in 1936. After ceasing its operations during World War II, Czech Airlines renewed its fleet, notably with the acquisition of its first jet aircraft: the Tupolev Tu-104A, and launched its first transcontinental routes in February 1962. The multiplication of the number of destinations, as well as the renewal of the fleet, allow Czech Airlines to gradually become one of the most successful airlines in Europe. In 1995, the company officially adopted its current name. Czech Airlines became a member of the SkyTeam alliance in March 2001. From 2004 to 2007, Czech Airlines won the “Best Central and Eastern European Airline” award for four consecutive years. In October 2017, Travel Service (now known as Smartwings) acquired Czech Airlines.
The airline attaches great importance to flawless service and customer friendliness. There’s even a frequent flyer program for kids: the Jetsters Club. The adult program, on the other hand, is called OK Plus. In addition to conventional awards such as bonus flights or admission to the Cristal Lounge at Prague Airport, there are also unusual gifts such as a flight in a hot air balloon. Czech Airlines is also involved in culture and is an official sponsor of the Prague Spring Music Festival.

Czech Airlines Check-in
Czech Airlines offers four check-in options: at the counter, at the machine, online and mobile.
The internet has made a lot of things easier. This also includes air travel: At Czech Airlines, passengers can check in hours before their departure and thus avoid annoying waiting times. Internet clearance is quick, simple and self-explanatory.
Simply take over the data given on the electronic flight ticket at airline website. In the next step you can choose your seat and print out your boarding pass. The selected seat can be changed later. In this case, however, it is necessary to reprint a boarding pass.
With this boarding pass, you don’t have to queue at the check-in counter at the airport. You go directly to passport and security control and then to the gate. This saves you about 35 minutes. Time that you can spend more sensibly than waiting!
When can internet check-in not be used?
Online check-in is not always possible in all cases. Internet clearance cannot be done if
- there is a collective reservation for ten or more people

- a special service is required for which a handling agent is required (e.g. for animals on board, for passengers with a wheelchair or medical assistance)
- traveling with cabin luggage (e.g. musical instruments)
Important information about luggage
If you travel with luggage, you can go directly to a baggage drop-off counter with your suitcase or travel bag. These are in front of the check-in desks in the departure hall. There the baggage is weighed and checked in accordingly. Thanks to Czech Airlines’ online check-in, you can then go straight to the check. If you only travel with hand luggage, you can go straight to the gate.
Check-in start time
Starting from 36 hours before the flight and continues until 60 minutes prior the scheduled flight.

Czech Airlines passengers can reserve a seat once they have booked a flight. The airline charges € 5 per person for regular seating by the window or aisle. If you want to book a seat with more legroom, you pay 15 euros on intra-European flights and 30 euros on long-haul connections. For passengers who have a flexible Economy Class ticket, the reservation is free without restriction. With reduced-price tickets, however, it is possible that this service is not available.
Czech Airlines Knee Distance
Because of the airlines who want to reduce the cost of flying more passengers, knee distance is very important especially on long haul flights. The front seats and emergency exit seats are the seats with the highest knee distance. It is generally sold for a fee.
OK Plus Frequent Flyer Program
The frequent flyer program of the airline CSA OK Plus has a total of three levels. Whoever flies with the CSA for the first time and wants to collect miles will receive the basic membership. If a predefined number of miles is exceeded per year, you can be classified as a member of a higher class – Silver or Gold. Mile gathering is facilitated because members can score points not only on flights with Czech Airlines, but also earn miles on flights operated by partner airlines. At least 500 miles are credited per domestic flight, while international travel is at least 1,000 miles. Other partnerships with car rentals, hotels and other companies make it possible to accumulate miles by other means.
Bonuses and benefits at OK Plus
Members of the CSA OK Plus can convert their collected miles into various bonuses. On the one hand, there is the option of upgrading to the Business Class; on the other hand, there is the option of taking more luggage free of charge or staying in special airport lounges. Anyone who has reached Silver Status after 25,000 miles per calendar year will be charged a 25 percent surcharge on all flights. A special switch is available for check-in. For 50,000 collected miles in a year, you will be a gold member at CSA OK Plus. Here, even 50 percent of Elite bonus miles per flight are credited additionally.
Czech Airlines Food & Beverage
In economy, a snack is already included in the flight price only in the Flex booking class. Economy passengers can choose from an on-board menu at Czech Airlines or order a meal in advance. The exact offer depends on the duration of the flight. A cold meal such as rolls, cold cuts and dessert costs nine euros, which includes a non-alcoholic cold drink, coffee or tea and beer or wine. This also applies to warm meals such as pork fillet with mashed potatoes, chicken with asparagus or lamb chops with sheep’s cheese. Hot meals in the economy cost 13 euros. The on-board menu includes soft drinks and hot drinks for around two euros, beer for three euros and wine for euros. Chocolate bars, nuts and similar little things are charged at around two euros.
Czech Airlines passengers are served a meal and drinks in the business at no extra charge. In general, you can choose from the same dishes as the imaginable economy, sometimes supplemented by regional specialties on the Asian flights. Porcelain is eaten in the business. There are no special meals at CSA in either booking class.
Czech Airlines has severely restricted on-board catering as part of its restructuring. In the economy, you have to be prepared to pay for food and drink at fair prices. It is difficult for vegetarians and other passengers who need special food for medical or religious reasons. Since CSA no longer offers special meals, in such cases you should eat food before departure or take food on board.
