About Copa Airlines
Copa Airlines is an airline of Panama, a subsidiary of Continental Airlines. The Panamanian company is launched after the end of the Second World War and started its flights in 1947. It then mainly connected three cities of the Republic of Panama with three Douglas C-47s. In the 1970s, Guatemala was added among its destinations, and domestic flights were eliminated, giving way to the international market. Copa Airlines was setting up its international flights to Kingston, Medellin, Barranquilla and San José. These flights are operated by two types of aircraft.
In the 1990s, it acquired its first Boeing 737 and added flights to Cartagena, Miami, Port-au-Prince, Santo Domingo and San Juan. It signed a strategic agreement with Continental Airlines in 1998. In 2007, the company officially announced its participation as an associate member of Skyteam. After finally leaving it in 2009, she joined the Star Alliance in 2012. Four years later, she launched her subsidiary Wingo, mainly to take over her home network. Today, Copa Airlines serves nearly 80 destinations with a fleet of 69 aircraft.
