National Company of Venezuela, Conviasa was created in 2004 by decision of President Hugo Chavez. After the cessation of activities of the former national company Viasa, the desire to see a new company fly in the colors of Venezuela was felt in 2001. This wish came true on March 30, 2004, with the signing of the decree of creation of the airline company Conviasa by Hugo Chavez. The first flight was made on November 28, 2004, between Charallave and Margarita Island. The national and international airline activity of the company officially begins on December 10, 2004. When the company was founded, a maintenance contract with a term of 5 years was agreed with the recognized company Lufthansa Technik. It is not known whether this was subject to an extension or whether the maintenance was transferred to other hands at the end of the agreed time. The property is 80% owned by the country of Venezuela and 20% by the state of Nueva Esparta.
Eager to offer Venezuelan citizens the possibility of traveling by plane, the Conviasa company makes sure to serve many internal destinations and connect the country’s cities with each other. It thus participates in both economic and tourist development of Venezuela and offers an air access route to many majestic tourist sites in the country. At the same time, it is also developing its international offering and offering flights to Latin America. For this, it has a fleet made up of various devices, adapted to each route. Its fleet consists of both Boeing and Airbus as well as Embraer. On April 09, 2015, Eduardo Antonio Falcon Gotopo took the helm of the company. To date, Conviasa serves 30 destinations with a fleet of 20 aircraft.
Convasia has no affiliation with an international alliance. The interesting offer for frequent flyers runs under the name Infinito and offers numerous discounts by collecting bonus points.
