China Airlines About China Airlines

China Airlines is a Taiwanese airline based in Taipei. China Airlines was founded by a retired ROC Air Force officer and began operations on December 16, 1959. At that time, the company was wholly owned by the ROC government and focused on charter flights. In the 1960s, China Airlines established its first domestic and international routes. The flight connecting Taipei to Hualien is the first line established by the company in October 1962. The first international flight connecting Taipei to Saigon is made on December 1, 1966. The transpacific links, for their part, are set up from February 2 1970.The victim of strained cross-strait relations, the China Airlines network established a subsidiary of Mandarin Airlines in 1991 and launched its routes to Vancouver and Sydney. At the end of the 2000s, the calm of relations marked the opening of the first charter flights to mainland China.

In 2014, the airline, in partnership with a Singaporean holding company, launched the low-cost carrier Tigerair Taiwan. That same year, it laid the groundwork for its “NexGen” plan aimed at refreshing the company’s image: the fleet was renewed, the staff uniforms were changed, and the renovated lounges at Taipei-Taoyuan airport were added.

As of the end of May 2020, the passenger aircraft fleet consisted of 88 Boeing and Airbus aircraft. Together with the well-known Air France or Aeroflot and 17 other companies, China Airlines is a member of the SkyTeam alliance. The airline joined it in 2011. The state airline’s frequent flyer program is called Dynasty Flyer. Miles earned can be redeemed for ticket upgrades or flight tickets and are also transferable to other people. China Airlines’ logo is the plum blossom, which is also Taiwan’s national symbol.

Mandarin Airlines and Tigerair Taiwan are subsidiaries.
