Canadian North About Canadian North

The Canadian North airline was founded in 1989. It was then a subsidiary of Air Canada, whose main purpose was to provide air service for the inhabitants of the northern provinces of the country, like Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. Almost 10 years after its creation, in 1989, Canadian North was incorporated into the NorTerra group. Four years later, in 2002, she launched her own logo. The latter combines the three symbols of the North: the polar bear, the sun and blue light.

The company acquired its first Dash 8 in 2007. In 2010, it signed an agreement with Air Canada. It continued to renew and modernize its fleet in 2011, the year in which it received its first Boeing 737-300. A year later, in 2012, Canadian North signed an interline agreement with WestJet. 2014 was also a year of success. The company is innovating by launching a loyalty program for its most frequent travelers, called Aurora Rewards. That same year, the company also became the official carrier for the Canadian Football League. In May 2015, Canadian North signed a codeshare agreement with First Air. This agreement will expire on May 16, 2017.
