About Blue Islands
Blue Islands was founded in 1999 in Alderney by the company Le Cocq’s Stores under the name of Le Cocq’s AirLink. In 2001, Le Cocq’s AirLink was officially founded and carried perishable goods between Bournemouth and Alderney. The first regular service operations took place from February 1, 2002. The airline changed its name on August 29, 2003, to become Rockhopper and moved its headquarters to Jersey in January 2006. It changed its name again in February 2006 and becomes Blue Islands, marking the official debut of the airline.
In April 2012, she joined the European Regions Airline Association (ERA), which represents the interests of more than 50 European airlines. At the same time, its fleet grew after the reception of the Fokker 50. Blue Islands is pursuing a policy of expansion by supplying new uniforms to the flight crew in March 2014, then by reorganizing and increasing the number of services to Bristol. In 2016, it became a franchise partner of Flybe. In 2020, it nevertheless resumes a certain number of services to the latter following its disappearance due to the coronavirus crisis. To date, Blue Islands serves 9 destinations with a fleet of 5 aircraft.
With its small fleet and few routes, Blue Islands relies on strong performance in terms of customer satisfaction and service in order to stand out from other providers. Book a flight, rebooking and refunds are handled easily and free of charge by the service team, the pricing policy is considered transparent. The company is not a member of an alliance and does offer a Blue Skies Club frequent flyer program. However, Blue Islands passengers flying from Jersey or Guernsey are granted access to the executive lounges of the respective airports.
