About Azores Airlines
SATA International was founded in 1990 as OceanAir and has been called Azores Airlines since October 2015. After the takeover by SATA Air Açores in 1994, the airline was given SATA International in 1998. This takeover allowed the group to grow considerably and to offer its customers flights to international cities. In 1995, the airline began operating charter flights with a Boeing 737-300.
The Portuguese airline Sata International is based at Ponta Delgada Airport in the Azores. The hub of Sata International includes Porta Delgada and Lisbon. Azores Airlines is part of the SATA Group and offers its guests the SATA Imagine frequent flyer program with various rewards.

Azores Airlines Classes of Service
SATA International – Azores Airlines offers its passengers two classes: SATA Classic and SATA Plus. The latter offers advantages when issuing tickets, checking in or boarding. There are also several tariffs at SATA International. These are the Economy Service and the Executive Service. The latter is offered on all flights except those between the individual Azores islands. This tariff offers a lot of comfort, for example with extra luggage or with access to the lounge.
SATA International’s flight schedule reveals that the airline serves both domestic and international airports. In addition to short-haul flights, the airline also offers long-haul flights. Lisbon, Frankfurt and London are top destinations as well as Toronto and Boston. On scheduled flights, these are the only two destinations outside Europe. SATA International is also active in the charter flight sector. Here the airline brings passengers to the Canary Islands, Paris and the Dominican Republic, among other places.
Azores Airlines Check-in
In addition to the classic check-in at the counter, Sata International offers its passengers the option of checking in online and mobile.
Passengers can check in on the Internet from 48 hours before departure. This check-in service is only possible for flights from Madeira, Lisbon, Porto, Boston, Toronto, Munich, Frankfurt, Las Palmas, London and the Azores. An optimized website is available at m.sata.pt for mobile check-in via smartphone.

The closing times at the airport vary between 30 minutes and an hour, depending on the route. Travelers who want to check in a suitcase are more likely to be at the airport than those checking in without luggage.

Azores Airlines Seat Selection
The Portuguese airline offers passengers the option of booking seats from 360 days to 48 hours before departure. While seat reservation for standard seats is free on domestic and European flights, there is a fee for comfort seats: on domestic flights, passengers have to pay 15 euros and on European flights 25 euros. On North America flights, however, a standard seat costs 16 euros and an XL seat 52 euros.
Azores Airlines Knee Distance
Because of the airlines who want to reduce the cost of flying more passengers, knee distance is very important especially on long haul flights. The front seats and emergency exit seats are the seats with the highest knee distance. It is generally sold for a fee.
SATA Imagine Frequent Flyer Program
The company’s loyalty program is the “Sata Imagine” program, which allows you to accumulate miles for each trip made with Azores Airlines or for each use of a partner’s service. This program rewards frequent flyers with rewards and benefits. Members earn miles by flying with the airline or using a credit card. If you pay for your flight with this one, you will get a lot of extra miles. There are also three statuses: the Bluesky, Silbersky or Goldsky card. Since Azores Airlines cooperates with many partners such as car rental companies or hotels, members can also collect miles there. These can then be redeemed for airline tickets, among other things.
