About Azerbaijan Airlines
Azerbaijan Airlines, the national airline of Azerbaijan, was created in 1992. From 1994, the company opened many new routes in the Middle East, in Europe as well as a route in China. In parallel with the expansion of its route network and the enrichment of its fleet, it began construction of a cargo terminal at Heydar Aliyev Airport in Baku, construction which will end in 2005. Azerbaijan Airlines has several classes. In Economy class, the staff serve a meal depending on the destination and the duration of the flight. Azerbaijan Airlines Baggage Allowance
On flights with Azerbaijan Airlines, two hand luggage items with a total weight of 15 kilograms may be carried in business class. In Economy Class, a maximum of eight kilograms of baggage may be carried on board. In addition, passengers are allowed to carry a personal item such as a handbag, a laptop or a camera. The hand luggage must not be larger than 55 x 20 x 40 cm.
Business Class passengers are allowed to leave a maximum of 23 kilos of luggage for a maximum of 32 kilograms and Economy Class passengers. The sum of the three outer dimensions of a piece of luggage shall not be more than 158 centimeters. Note: Between Baku and Istanbul and between Ganja and St. Petersburg the following weight limits apply: 20 kilograms in economy class and 40 kilograms in business class.
A ski or golf equipment or a bicycle are transported free of charge regardless of their size and weight in addition to the free baggage. All other types of sports baggage must be transported within the free baggage limit, otherwise fees will be charged. For musical instruments that are not heavier than 75 kilos, it is possible to reserve an additional seat. The participation of sports baggage should always be registered before the flight with the airline and confirmed by it.

Azerbaijan Airlines states that they change the menus regularly in order to guarantee variety not only for frequent flyers. In Economy, it depends on flights to and from Baku whether breakfast or a cold meal is served alongside a warm meal. The sample menus include classics such as pasta and chicken breast, but also fish and beef stroganoff. Although Azerbaijan is Muslim, Azerbaijan Airlines offers alcohol, including beer from Turkey and wine from Georgia.
The official list of special meals that can be pre-ordered at AZAL is long and includes everything from baby dishes to vegetarian options and various foods based on religious and medical rules. A special feature is that kosher food is charged at around 20 euros extra.
