Avianca Brazil is a Brazilian airline. It was created in 1998 under the name of Oceanair and aims to offer the best possible service to the Brazilian network. Avianca Brazil acquired an Airbus fleet, before acquiring Fokker 100s in 2006.In 2006, the company went international, opening a line to Mexico. In 2008, it became a subsidiary of the Avianca group. Two years later, in 2010, she changed her name to mark her belonging to Avianca and became Avianca Brazil. That same year, the company obtained IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) certification.

Avianca Brazil continued to grow in 2015. In July, it joined Star Alliance, the largest airline alliance in the world. In December, she signed a codeshare agreement with the Spanish airline Air Europa. The following year, Avianca Brazil signed two new codeshare agreements, with Turkish Airlines and with Air Canada.

Avianca Brasil declared bankruptcy on December 10, 2018, with a debt that increased by 50% in 2018. In April 2019, the company Azul canceled its takeover offer for the company to resubmit it in May. Financial difficulties pushed the company to sell two thirds of its fleet in April 2019, causing the cancellation of more than 1,300 flights. On June 24, 2019, the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency officially suspended Avianca Brasil flights for security reasons. Avianca Brasil was leaving Star Alliance on September 1, 2019.
