About Arik Air
Arik Air Limited is a private Nigerian airline based in Lagos. The disappearance of the national airline in 2002 prompted Nigerian businessman Sir Arumemi-Ikhide to buy a private plane. Drowning in demand, He founded Arik Air in 2004 with the ambition to be a Nigerian airline showcase on the world stage. On April 3, 2006, the airline took over the infrastructure as well as the facilities of the liquidated Nigeria Airways, which was located at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos. After the inauguration of the premises at the end of the year, it modernized its fleet and started its commercial flights.
Arik Air has been developing its international air network in 2008, with the establishment of a link to Accra in Ghana. By improving the safety and quality of its flights, it was recognized with the International Quality Summit Award in the Gold category for its excellence and prestige in the business world in May 2008. Arik Air connects Africa South, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Gambia, Benin and the United States in 2009. In 2009 the airline founded its subsidiary Arik Niger. However, this was completely abandoned in January 2011.
In constant rise, it welcomed its 3 millionth passenger in July 2009 and the 6 millionth in December 2010. The efforts of the company all aspects of its services ended up paying off as in 2019 Arik Air was recognized with the titles of “Best Airline of the Year” and “Best Flight Attendant on Domestic Flights” at the Nigeria Aviation Awards. The average age of Arik Air aircraft is currently 12.7 years. The airline also offers its passengers a frequent flyer program called Arik Wings Plus. Arik Air Classes of Service
Several types of services are offered on board Arik Air airline planes , depending on the class chosen. In Economy class, the screens are integrated behind the headrests and the seats are reclining. Comfort is superior in Business Class, with passengers having access to a wardrobe, a bar, large seats convertible into beds and large individual screens. Ear muffs, night kits and duvets are also available. African and international meals, beverages, on-demand video and audio programs, blankets and individual lighting are offered in both classes.
Arik Air currently flies to a total of 16 destinations in West Africa. These include, for example, Dakar, Freetown, Johannesburg and London Heathrow. But Airk Air’s program also includes three long-haul destinations.

Arik Air Baggage Allowance
Air travelers are allowed to carry twelve kilograms of hand baggage on international flights and six kilograms of hand luggage on domestic flights. Hand luggage must not be larger than 55 x 35 x 25 centimeters. Hand luggage cannot contain any liquids on international flights.
A piece of baggage that is checked in must not exceed 90 x 70 x 43 centimeters. The maximum weight may be 30 kg in Business Class and 20 kg in Economy Class. Excess baggage charges apply. Small children are only allowed to take hand luggage with them.
The transport of ski, surf, windsurfing or golf equipment as well as bicycles is permitted, but is subject to payment of a fee and also depends on the space available on board. The airline should be contacted in advance for further information.
