Airlink is a South African regional airline. The airline is based in Johannesburg and has its base at Johannesburg Airport. In 1995, Airlink was created from the merger of various airlines. These include Magnum Airways, Lowveld Aviation, Citi Air, Border Air and Link Airways. Two years later, in 1997, a strategic alliance was also entered into with South African Airways and South African Express Airways. Together they operated under the expanded name South African Airlink. However, the alliance was dissolved again in 2006. However, Airlink is still working with the other two airlines.
Airlink also has an alliance with Star Alliance. The airline also offers its passengers a frequent flyer program called Voyager. Airlink attaches great importance to professional care for passengers. Holders of a South African Airways Voyager Card are allowed to check in an additional ten (Silver Members), 20 (Gold Members) or 30 kilograms (Platinum Members) luggage. A piece of checked baggage cannot be larger than 90 x 72 x 45 centimeters. Infants are allowed to check in 10 kg of luggage.
