About Air Tanzania
The dissolution of East African Airways gave birth to Air Tanzania, founded in 1977. Member of the Association of African Airlines (AFRAA) since its inception, it is the national airline of Tanzania. In 2002, the government partially privatized the airline by reducing its stake in Air Tanzania to 51%. This decrease gives rise to a partnership with South African Airways (SAA), which acquires shares in the company. The partnership with South African Airways ended in 2006. The Tanzanian government bought all the shares on this occasion. Air Tanzania is nationalized. To develop it, the government decides to invest heavily in Air Tanzania’s operating systems.
In 2016, he developed a specific program with the aim of reorganizing the company. This means the purchase of 6 new aircraft between 2016 and 2018, the payment of debts and the improvement and modernization of systems. The development of the fleet allows the company to position itself as a serious competitor in the airline market. It can open new destinations to the rest of Africa and Asia.
