About Air Seychelles
Air Seychelles was founded in 1977 when the government of Seychelles acquired and brought together small aircraft operators (Air Mahé and Inter Island Airways) into one company. The company is called Seychelles Airlines and its purpose is to provide inter-island services. It was not until the following year, in 1978, that the company adopted its current name, Air Seychelles. In 1983, Air Seychelles, which until then had operated domestic flights, launched its first long-haul flight. It connects Mahé to London, via Frankfurt.
In 2012, the company implemented a restructuring plan. Among the measures adopted are the reduction of its international network and the end of regular services to Europe. Conversely, Air Seychelles is increasing its frequencies to Abu Dhabi. The same year, the Emirati company Etihad Airways bought 40% of Air Seychelles’ capital. The two companies then forge a close partnership. Air Seychelles is back on the road to Europe thanks to the codeshare agreement concluded with Etihad Airways and the many other codeshare agreements signed with other airlines. The Seychelles company is thus present on 5 continents. However, in 2018, Air Seychelles announced a plan to transform its activities through increased importance given to its domestic network. In April of the same year, it closed its line connecting the Seychelles to Paris. In November 2019, a line to Tel Aviv was inaugurated.
The airline flies with a young and modern fleet in order to be able to offer passengers the greatest possible safety and comfort. Air Seychelles’ frequent flyer program is called Etihad Guest. There are three different levels of membership that determine the types of rewards.

Air Seychelles Classes of Service
Air Seychelles offers two classes of travel; Economy and Business (Pearl Class)
Compared to other airlines, Economy Class promises greater service and more legroom with a seat spacing of 81 cm. As standard, all passengers can choose between an international menu and local cuisine. In Economy class, the seat has an adjustable headrest. Passengers benefit from an individual screen on which they can watch movies, TV shows, listen to the radio and listen to music, just like Business Class travelers. This travel class offers reclining leather seats with integrated footrests, adjustable headrests and a reading light. On night flights, take advantage of a comfort kit. Business Class is known as Pearl Class. This has so-called lie-flat seats with a seat inclination of 180 ° and a built-in massage function.
The largest islands of the Seychelles Mahé, Praslin and Bird Island are particularly frequented. Twin-engine turboprop aircraft are mostly used on domestic flights. In addition, passengers can explore the diverse island world by island hopping. Small machines also operate between the smaller neighboring islands. The Indian Ocean Pass also gives passengers an even larger route network. Air Seychelles, Air Mauritius and Air Austral have joined forces to put together an extensive range of flights to various islands in the Indian Ocean. In the international area, selected destinations in Africa and Asia such as Mumbai, Tel Aviv, Antananarivo, Port Louis, Abu Dabi and Johannesburg are served.
