About Air Nostrum
Established as a private company, the Spanish airline Air Nostrum was founded on May 23, 1994, thanks to a team of six people. The first scheduled flight was launched on December 15 of that same year and linked Valencia to Bilbao, in the Spanish Basque country. Having its hub at Valencia airport, the company is also based at Madrid Barajas and San Sebastián airports. Air Nostrum acquired three new planes during the first phase of its fleet expansion in January 1995. During the summer of 1995 and the end of 1996, nine new planes were added to the company’s fleet.
In 1997, three years after its creation, Air Nostrum signed a franchise agreement with the company Iberia. After this agreement, the flights of Air Nostrum were marketed by Iberia which allowed it to considerably increase its range of destinations as well as the number of passengers carried. The company operates flights exclusively for Iberia under the Iberia Regional brand. For this reason, all Air Nostrum machines are painted in the colors or design of Iberia.
This collaboration also enabled it to adopt the Iberia Plus loyalty program and, in September 1999, to join Oneworld, the largest airline alliance. In 1998, Air Nostrum added a CRJ 200ER aircraft to its fleet in order to be able to carry out long-haul flights and to open up to the international market. The Spanish company is recognized today as the main regional company in the country.

Air Nostrum Seat Selection
To make a comfortable trip with Air Nostrum, you must choose the right seat. In general, if you want to travel in a good seat, you should choose your seat in advance and disregard some extra fees if necessary.
Air Nostrum Knee Distance
Because of the airlines who want to reduce the cost of flying more passengers, knee distance is very important especially on long haul flights. The front seats and emergency exit seats are the seats with the highest knee distance. It is generally sold for a fee.
Avios Frequent Flyer Program
To reward its most frequent travelers, the company has joined the Iberia loyalty program, “Iberia Plus” which offers travelers the opportunity to accumulate points, which can then be exchanged for free travel, hotel nights but also rentals vehicles. Several levels exist, classic, silver, gold and platinum, each offering exclusive privileges to customers, such as access to higher classes, priority on waiting lists for reservations, or even access to VIP rooms.
Air Nostrum Food & Beverage
Air Nostrum passengers have to pay for on-board catering in Economy. The airline advertises around 50 different snacks and dishes as well as drinks on its website, but does not provide a sample menu. Basically, the range of breakfast, lunch and dinner to snacks in between serves all needs, they say. Sweet pastries, salty snacks and cold baguettes are highlighted. It is not possible to pre-order special meals. The choice of drinks includes coffee, tea, soft drinks, juices and water as well as beer, wine, sparkling wine (cava) and common spirits such as rum, gin and whiskey.
Air Nostrum also has a Business Class on most flights, in which on-board catering is included in the ticket price. According to the information, people eat porcelain in the business. Depending on the time of day, guests are offered breakfast, baguettes with high-quality toppings, mini baguettes with Iberian products and snacks such as nuts or chips. The drinks menu includes a wide selection of beers, wines and spirits in addition to the standards.
From a culinary point of view, you should expect snacks rather than opulent menus at Air Nostrum. If you pay attention to special rules when eating, you should strengthen yourself before departure or pack a lunch box.
Air Nostrum Inflight Entertainment
Regarding its on-board services, Air Nostrum has a Business class, with the exception of certain domestic flights, and is generally located at the front of the aircraft. The latter offers meals and drinks served on carefully prepared platters. Snacks and aperitifs as well as newspapers are also offered. In 1998, the company was also awarded the Mercury Prize for the quality of its services.
