About Air New Zealand
Air New Zealand airlineis one of the largest in the South Pacific. Around 116 million passengers are transported annually, with the airline’s focus on Australia and the South Pacific, with some destinations in Europe, North America and Asia. The airline was founded in 1940 as Tasman Empire Airways Limited, Air New Zealand is New Zealand’s national airline. Air New Zealand directly serves 47 cities in 15 countries, including over 470 flights per day to 26 destinations within New Zealand.
In 1999 Air New Zealand joined the Star Alliance, which allowed even more destinations to be offered through the alliance partners. The alliance also enables frequent flyers to earn miles with other Star Alliance airlines worldwide. Air New Zealand is committed to both leisure and business travelers.
In 2005, Airline commenced introduction of its new long haul international services on Boeing 770-220 and refitted Boeing 747-400s. The new service delivers state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment systems and lie-flat seating in Business Premier class.
The convenience of the aircraft has been improved again in recent years. A premium economy class was introduced, which is between the economy class and the business premier class. Thanks to this introduction, passengers can too fly cheaply . Furthermore, some BOEINGs were equipped with a modern on-demand entertainment system, not to forget the original New Zealand food on board. Air New Zealand Check-in
In addition to check-in at the counter, the New Zealand airline also offers mobile and online check-in with a computer or smartphone. Passengers can check in online for national flights up to 30 minutes and for international flights up to 90 minutes before departure. Anyone who has not printed out their electronic boarding pass or saved it as a 2D barcode on their cell phone can pick it up at the airport counter or at the online check-in counter.

Air New Zealand recommends that passengers check in at least two hours before departure for international flights and 30 minutes in advance for domestic flights. For United States flights, passengers should be at the airport three hours before departure.
Air New Zealand Baggage Allowance
Air travelers may take a piece of hand luggage with a maximum weight of 7 kg and the total dimensions (length + width + height) of 118 cm onto the plane. A personal item, such as a coat, a handbag, a walking stick, a camera or a flat laptop bag, may also be taken on board. Business Class, Premium Economy or other passengers such as those with Star Alliance Gold status can carry up to two pieces of hand luggage on board. A total weight of up to 14 kg (with a maximum weight of 10 kg for a single piece of hand luggage) must be taken into account.
The free baggage allowance is one piece of luggage for economy passengers, two pieces of luggage for premium economy passengers and three pieces of luggage for business class passengers. For members of the Star Alliance Gold, Elite / Gold Airpoints or Koru, they can take two pieces of luggage in Economy Class and three pieces of luggage in Premium Economy or Business Class. In the described cases, a piece of luggage may not weigh more than 23 kg and must not exceed the external dimensions of 158 cm (length + width + height).
If bicycles have been properly packed, they will fall below the free baggage allowance as checked baggage. In addition, sports equipment such as golf clubs, skis and snowboards as well as surfboards can be carried as standard luggage as long as they do not exceed the free luggage limit. Please note that an increased length of up to 199 cm is permitted for sports luggage. Excess baggage fees will be charged for other sports equipment above the baggage allowance. Air New Zealand Seat Selection
Air New Zealand allows passengers on certain flights to reserve a certain number of seats available. Whether this service is chargeable or not depends on the chosen place and tariff. In principle, fees are charged for the reservation of standard seats in the short and medium-haul rates Seat and Seat & Bag – depending on the route between 5 and 15 New Zealand dollars (approx. 3-12 euros). In all other booking classes, the selection of a seat is included in the price. For international flights, reservations can be made up to three hours before departure and for domestic flights up to 30 minutes before departure. XL seats can be booked for 15-85 euros depending on the location and route.
Air New Zealand Knee Distance
Because of the airlines who want to reduce the cost of flying more passengers, knee distance is very important especially on long haul flights. The front seats and emergency exit seats are the seats with the highest knee distance. It is generally sold for a fee.
Airpoints Frequent Flyer Program
Air New Zealand offers its customers the Airpoints bonus program to earn miles. The frequent flyers can use the status points to achieve the status Silver, Gold and Gold Elite. Air New Zealand is a partner of the Star Alliance
As a partner of the international Star Alliance, Air New Zealand offers a wide range of discounts and rewards. Star Alliance members have the option to further increase their mileage account with flights from Air New Zealand or other participating airlines. The Trans-Tasmanian association with Virgin Australia provides further benefits, as does the partnership with Etihad Airways. Airpoints status points for Gold or Elite members do not expire immediately if you do not reach the annual flight miles, but passengers have two months to get their status back.
Air New Zealand Food & Beverage
On long-haul flights, Business Class passengers can choose from an extensive range. For example, sumac salmon salad with cucumber tobacco, roasted grapes and lemon dressing or chicken thighs on sweet potato and miso puree with edamame beans, spinach and shiitake mushrooms in chilli are served.
For breakfast, in addition to breakfast classics such as smoothies, muesli, yoghurt or croissants, passengers can also choose warm dishes such as bacon rolls or cinnamon pancakes.
On night flights there is also the possibility of a light dinner or a late breakfast. Air New Zealand offers a simplified menu on shorter domestic flights and in economy class.
In addition to the classic food offerings, the airline also accepts orders for special meals. These must be ordered at least 24 hours before departure. Special meals include, for example, special dishes for babies and toddlers. If possible, this food is served before adult meals. In this way you can help your children eat and then enjoy your own meal in peace.
Passengers can also order vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and low-fat dishes. A food option for diabetics is also available. You can also order dishes that are prepared according to religious regulations or ethnic customs, for example for Hindus, Muslims, Orthodox Jews, Jains or Chinese passengers.
