About Air Europa
Air Europa was founded under the name Air Spain SA in 1984, although the first charter flights took place between Spain and the UK first started in 1986. At first Air Europa was part of the English tour operator ILG but in 1991 the group went bankrupt and the airline passed into the hands of Viajes Halcón. Air Europa is now part of the Globalia Air Europa Business Corporation. The airline followed the tradition of using only Boeing aircraft, but eventually integrated Airbus into its fleet in 2005.
Air Europa is to be the first private aviation company to offer scheduled flights in competition with Iberia, thereby eliminating a monopoly. In June 2020, the fleet consisted of 62 aircraft made by Airbus, Boeing, Embraer and ATR. Their average age was 8.6 years. The Spanish airline offers cheap flights to all regions of the world, with their offer being particularly well positioned within Spain / Europe, North, Central and South America. Air Europa is a member of the SkyTeam alliance. With some other airlines, code sharing is used to save costs and continue to offer cheap flights. There are also partnerships with Binter Canaris, Etihad, Sky Airline, AccesRail and Deutsche Bahn. Air Europa’s frequent flyer program is called SUMA and offers its participants many advantages.
If you prefer an XL seat instead of the standard seats, you can tell Air Europa up to 48 before departure. The notification of a preferred seat should also take place at least two days before the trip. The cost of booking a particular XL seat is higher than a standard seat and the longer the route, the more you have to pay. A distinction is made between mainland Spain + the Balearic Islands, Europe / Africa / Canary Islands and long-distance routes. For flights with Air Europa, passengers can choose dishes from the “Gusto +” menu. A menu is included on intercontinental flights. Anyone who has special needs for their food should inform the airline at least 48 hours in advance. On flights over two hours and intercontinental flights, on-board sales take place. International newspapers and magazines as well as documentaries, series, films and music are used for entertainment during the flights. If air travelers do not want to do without the Internet on the way, they can choose between 30, 60 or 100 MB data packets and go to the WLAN above the clouds.
Air Europa Express is a subsidiary of the company.
